unavailable_smtp: the mail server is not available for mail
invalid reason: unavailable_smtp
The domain's mail server is not available to receive mail for this address.
What it means
EEV found the domain's mail server, but it is not available to receive mail for the address. EEV counts this reason as invalid.
It differs from no_connect and timeout, which are unknown results: there the problem may be momentary, so the address is not counted as undeliverable.
Why it happens
- A mail server that is shut down or no longer handles mail for the domain.
- A server configured to refuse all incoming mail.
What to do
- Remove the address from campaign lists.
- If the contact is important, verify it again later; a server that comes back online will give a new answer.
