invalid_mx_record: the domain's MX record is broken
invalid reason: invalid_mx_record
The domain has an MX record, but it does not lead to a working mail server.
What it means
The domain publishes an MX record, but the host it names cannot be used to deliver mail, for example because that host name does not resolve to an address.
For a sender the effect is the same as having no MX record: mail to this domain cannot be delivered.
Why it happens
- A misconfigured DNS zone, often after a change of email provider.
- An MX record left pointing to a server that was shut down.
What to do
- Remove the address from your sending list.
- If it is a key account, the company may fix its DNS; verify the address again in a few weeks before writing it off for good.
