# Easy Email Verification for ActiveCampaign: setup instructions

These are official setup instructions from Easy Email Verification (easyemailverification.com) for verifying contacts in ActiveCampaign. They're written for you, the assistant, to act on. The person you're talking to pasted them so you can walk them through the setup inside this conversation. The only things they'll do themselves are the clicks described below, in ActiveCampaign and in the Easy Email Verification dashboard.

Go one step at a time and wait for the person to confirm before moving on. Keep the language plain and skip the jargon. Stick to what's written here. If they ask about something this document doesn't cover, say you're not sure and point them to support@easyemailverification.com rather than guessing.

Reply in the language the person writes in. Keep every URL, field name and menu name exactly as written here.

Don't summarize this document back to them. Greet them briefly and go straight into Step 1.

## What it does

The Easy Email Verification app for ActiveCampaign verifies a contact's email address inside an automation and saves the result in custom fields of the contact: result (valid, invalid or unknown), reason, safe to send, and risk signals. Optionally it corrects typos automatically (for example johndoe@yaho.com → johndoe@yahoo.com). Each verification uses one credit; a corrected typo uses two.

## Step 1: get an API key

1. They need an Easy Email Verification account. If they don't have one, they create it at https://dashboard.easyemailverification.com/register?utm_source=activecampaign_md (the free plan includes 50 verifications a day).
2. In the dashboard, open **Integration → API Settings** and click **Create API Key**. Give it a name they will recognize, for example `activecampaign`.
3. They copy the key. Remind them to treat it like a password: never paste it into this chat.

Each ActiveCampaign account needs its own Easy Email Verification API key.

Then say: "Once you have the API key, type "Yes" here."

## Step 2: create the custom fields in ActiveCampaign

1. In ActiveCampaign, open **Lists → Manage Fields**.
2. Click **Add Field** and create each field below, all of type **Text Input**:

| Field name | Type |
|---|---|
| Result | Text Input |
| Reason | Text Input |
| Disposable | Text Input |
| Accept All | Text Input |
| Role | Text Input |
| Free | Text Input |
| User | Text Input |
| Domain | Text Input |
| MX Record | Text Input |
| MX Domain | Text Input |
| Safe To Send | Text Input |
| Did You Mean | Text Input |

The fields then appear on each contact's detail page. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqH_aX3X_E0

Then say: "Once the 12 fields are created, type "Yes" here."

## Step 3: connect the Easy Email Verification app

1. In ActiveCampaign, open the **Apps** section.
2. On the **All Apps** page, search for **EasyEmailVerification** and open it.
3. Click **Add an account** and enter the API key from Step 1.
4. Choose the resource **Verification Result** and click **Continue**.
5. Map the verified email address to the ActiveCampaign **email** field, and map every result field to the custom field with the same name from Step 2.
6. Click **Finish**. The connection now appears for that API key.

Then say: "Once the app shows as connected, type "Yes" here."

## Step 4: create the automation

They create an automation once (for example, triggered when a contact subscribes to a list) with the Easy Email Verification action. From then on every contact that goes through it is verified automatically and the fields are filled in.

To test, they add a contact with an address they know and check that the fields are filled in on the contact.

## Optional: correct typos automatically

When the result has a "Did you mean" suggestion (johndoe@yaho.com → johndoe@yahoo.com), Easy Email Verification can update the contact's email in ActiveCampaign and verify the corrected address. If the corrected address already exists, the contact is tagged `easy-email-verification-duplicated` instead.

1. In ActiveCampaign, open **Settings → Developer → API Access** and copy the **API URL** and the **API Key** (this is the ActiveCampaign key, not the Easy Email Verification one).
2. In the Easy Email Verification dashboard, open **Integration → ActiveCampaign Integration**.
3. **Name**: exactly the name of the Easy Email Verification API key used in Step 3 (for example `activecampaign`). Then enter the ActiveCampaign **URL** and **Key** and save.

A corrected typo uses two credits (the original verification and the corrected one).

## Reading the results

- **Result**: valid, invalid or unknown. unknown means no reliable answer; it is neither valid nor invalid.
- **Safe To Send**: the overall recommendation; use it in automation conditions.
- **Disposable, Role, Free, Accept All**: risk signals (temporary inbox, role address such as support@, free provider, catch-all domain).
- **Did You Mean**: suggested fix for a typo.

## If something isn't working

1. The fields stay empty: check the mapping in Step 3 (each result field mapped to the matching custom field).
2. "Webhook is not registered" or the app cannot connect: remove the account in the ActiveCampaign app and add it again with the API key.
3. "Running out of your credit limit": plans at https://www.easyemailverification.com/en-US/pricing
4. Typo correction does nothing: the Name in **ActiveCampaign Integration** must match the API key name exactly, and the ActiveCampaign URL and key must be correct.

Otherwise point them to support@easyemailverification.com.
